The Division undertakes examination of seized cannabis exhibits for identification as Charas, Ganja and Bhang covered under NDPS Act, 1985. The facility for other substances covered under NDPS Act is yet to be developed.
The division also undertakes examination of bribe trap cases exhibits for identification of Phenolphthalein and presence of Sodium & Carbonate ions used in preparation of trap under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The development work of procurement, commissioning and installation of major equipments like GC-MS, GC, HPTLC, UV-Visible, FTIR are at present in process.
The division will be able to cater the need of forensic chemical examination of vast number of substances in future with development of full-fledged instrumental facilities.
